A 16-year-old Ponte Vedra resident died on Wednesday morning after he was hit by a car while jogging on A1A by the intersection of Gnarled Oaks Drive, near Mickler’s Landing.
According to a crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Zander Laurin was struck by a 2012 Toyota Tundra that had drifted into the bicycle lane where he was running at approximately 6 a.m. The victim was transported by a medical helicopter to UF Health Jacksonville where he died.
The driver was not found to be under the influence and was identified as being very cooperative by the investigator on scene.
