Zinke Hair Studio in Ponte Vedra Beach will host a cut-a-thon on April 8 to raise money for Charity Water, which is a nonprofit organization with the goal of helping bring clean water to people living in sub-Saharan Africa.

According to Zinke owner Megan Roberston, the cut-a-thon idea came about because as a celebration of April being recognized as “earth month,” and it also helps that Zinke is an official Aveda salon, which is an American cosmetic company, and they have a strong partnership with Charity Water.

“It’s going to be a really neat initiative and there are only a limited number of spots available,” Robertson said. “Charity Water is such a great organization, and they are really doing their part to change people’s lives.”

The fundraising event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and during that time haircuts will be $50, and all of the proceeds raised will go toward Charity Water and its projects.

Green and blue hair tinsel will also be offered for $15.

“It takes about $40 to provide a lifetime of clean water to one person, so really one haircut changes someone's entire life,” Robertson said. “We also have another way that people can get involved and that is through our ‘walk for water’ happening Sunday April 21.”

The Walk for Water” event is an opportunity for the community to come out and take part in a 3.7-mile walk starting at Southern Grounds & Co. coffee shop in Neptune Beach and going down to Atlantic Beach and back to raise awareness for the world’s need for clean water.

The cut-a-thon and walk are not the first times Zinke has sought to get involved in the community, as the studio also held a Braids for Breast Cancer event in October, and it is not the last time according to Robertson.

“These initiatives are not just a way for people to look good, but they can do so while also feeling good about themselves and the impact they are making,” Robertson said.
