St. Francis in-the-Field Episcopal Church breaks ground on new youth building

St. Francis in-the-Field Episcopal Church broke ground on its new Founders Youth Building on Sunday.

Located on Palm Valley Road in Ponte Vedra, the church raised $1,031,000 in four months for the new building and some other deferred maintenance items. The building will be a dedicated space for youth, ranging in age from nursery and toddlers to children and high schoolers.

“We are so very fortunate to have had such a successful capital campaign,” church member Jan Kary told the Recorder via email. “We set a $1 million goal and reached that — and exceeded that goal — in just four months.”

The architect of the new building, Chris Kaye, is a church member. With Sauer Construction hired for the project, the church hopes to have the building completed by October 2019, in time for the church’s annual “Rally Day,” a kickoff to the 2019-2020 ministry year. The church announced its plans for the new building in fall 2018.
