Thrift shop reopens Anastasia Island location

After being closed for nine days, the Betty Griffin Center Thrift Shoppe has reopened in St. Augustine with a new store layout and new flooring. Longtime customers looking for bargains at the St. Augustine location at 1961 A1A South are now enjoying a new shopping experience.

“The customer reactions have been great,” said store manager Jesus Roman. “So many of our regular customers have expressed to me and the staff how good the floors look and the huge difference it’s made in the appearance of the store.”

In conjunction with the installation of epoxy flooring by R/C Glamorous Epoxy Coatings, Roman said, the flow of the store aisles were also reconfigured to create “a more inviting and spacious appearance.”

Proceeds from purchases made at both locations support the nonprofit agency in providing services to survivors of domestic violence and their minor children, as well as sexual assault survivors.

Momswhothink.com, a popular blog post since 2000, recently named Betty Griffin Center’s St. Augustine location among the eighth-best thrift stores in St. Augustine.

Betty Griffin Center also operates a second thrift store at Julington Square Shopping Center located at 445 State Road 13, in Fruit Cove.

Both locations have weekly sales, including:

Monday: Senior Citizen Discount Day. Guests age 65 and older receive 15% off purchases

Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday. Ten pieces of adult clothing for $10 and children’s clothing is 50% off (excluding boutique items)

Thursday: Military, first responders and teachers receive 15% off

Both shops are open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and are closed on Sundays. Donations are accepted at both Anastasia Square and Julington Square locations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Betty Griffin Center also offers home or office pick-up for large donations. Those who have large furniture or estate donations can call 904-495-8216 to schedule a pick-up time and date.
