A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 26 marked the completion of a more than two-year project to renovate the emergency care center at UF Health Flagler Hospital.
After seven phases of extensive construction, the hospital unveiled state-of-the-art facilities that will enhance patient care and improve overall efficiency.
“We are excited to celebrate the completion of the emergency care center renovations,” said Carlton DeVooght, president and CEO of UF Health St. Johns. “This project represents a significant investment in our community's health care infrastructure, and we are confident that it will greatly benefit our patients and staff.
“The end result is a testament to UF Health’s commitment to providing exceptional health care services to the community.”
The emergency care center renovations have been a comprehensive undertaking, aimed at modernizing the facility and expanding its capabilities to meet the growing needs of the community.
The project involved upgrading the infrastructure, enhancing patient flow and incorporating the latest medical technologies. These improvements will enable the hospital to deliver better emergency care, ensuring that patients receive prompt and efficient treatment in a comfortable environment.
Renovations began on Oct. 1, 2021, and continued over the past two years until work was completed on the nearly 22,000-square-foot facility. Over the course of the project, 48 patient exam rooms were renovated, as were four trauma rooms and the nurses' stations.
“I would like to recognize the entire emergency care team who worked diligently during the renovations to ensure that the high standard of care for our patients continued,” said Michelle Paulo, administrator of emergency services and specialty services, behavioral health and nursing operations. “More than 52,000 patients came through the emergency care center last year, and this facility will allow us to continue to deliver quality care effectively during future critical moments.”
